Workshop ‘Small book, big stories‘
Sun 8 Nov 2026

A book doesn’t need to be big to hold a whole world. In this workshop, children make their own small book, folded from a single sheet of paper, and fill it with a story of their own.

We begin by looking at small books and zines and how images and words work together across pages. What happens when you turn the page? What comes first, and what comes last? Then each child invents their story. It can be a made-up world full of strange creatures, an adventure from their imagination, or something from their own life, like their family, their street or their favourite animal. They plan, draw, write and collage their book page by page, deciding everything from the cover to the ending.

What we explore: visual storytelling, sequence, image and text, bookmaking

What they take home: their own handmade book

Good to know: children who don’t yet write much are very welcome. Stories can be told in pictures too

Break: Halfway through each workshop, we take a short break together with a healthy snack. Please let us know about any allergies or dietary needs on the registration form.
